Your list stays yours.
Stiver has no account, no analytics, no ads and no third-party code. The developer collects nothing about you. This page explains exactly what the app keeps, where it keeps it, and the one request it makes over the internet.
Who is responsible
Stiver is designed and developed by Chris Tzoannou. Questions about this notice or your data: ctzoannou@gmail.com.
What the developer collects
Nothing. There are no servers of ours that receive or store your data, no sign-up, no tracking, no crash reporter, no advertising identifiers. We cannot see what you add, change or look at in the app.
What the app keeps, and where
- Your items (names, prices, currencies, renewal dates, reminder choices, provider, notes) and their history are stored on your iPhone.
- iCloud: when you are signed in to iCloud on your iPhone, Stiver keeps a copy in the private database of your own iCloud account so your list is the same on your devices. Apple runs this storage; only your Apple Account can read it, not us. It is protected by Apple's iCloud security, and end-to-end encrypted only if you have turned on Apple's Advanced Data Protection.
- Licence keys and other secrets are kept in this iPhone's Keychain, set to "this device only": they are never synced to iCloud and can't be restored onto another device. Opening one asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode; that check is done by iOS and Stiver never receives any face or fingerprint data.
- Settings (appearance, currency) and the day's exchange rates are kept on your iPhone.
The one request the app makes
To show your monthly total in your own currency, Stiver asks api.frankfurter.dev for the day's exchange rates (European Central Bank figures), at most once a day when you open the app. The request contains no information about you or your items. Like any internet request, it reaches that service from your device's IP address; Stiver sends nothing else. Rates are cached on your iPhone.
Reminders
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. They are not sent through any server. They show an item's name and price, so they can appear on your lock screen; you can change how notifications are shown in iOS Settings.
Copying a secret
When you copy a secret, it stays on this iPhone's clipboard only (it isn't shared with your other devices through Universal Clipboard) and is cleared after 30 seconds. A revealed secret is hidden again when you leave the app.
Export and import
Settings › Export all data creates a JSON file with your items and their history, for you to save wherever you choose. It does not include your secrets. Importing reads a Stiver JSON file you pick; nothing is uploaded.
Deleting your data
- Deleting an item in Stiver deletes it, its history and its secret.
- To delete everything, delete the items in the app (this also removes them from your iCloud copy), then delete the app.
- To remove the iCloud copy directly: iPhone Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage (or Manage Storage) › Stiver › Delete Data.
- iOS may keep Keychain entries after an app is removed. Delete an item's secret in Stiver first if you want it gone from the device.
Children
Stiver is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
This website
These pages set no cookies, run no analytics and load nothing from other websites: fonts and images are served from this site. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages; like any web host, GitHub may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) under its own privacy statement.
Changes
If Stiver's handling of data changes, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
